The Trek – Marco Polo Cycling Team had a great Tour de Georgia p/b AT&T. Under the sponsorship and name of GE – Marco Polo Cycling Team presented by Trek we participated in the biggest cycling race in the USA. The participation of 5 Protour teams and teams like Slipstream and Rock Racing with Tour de France stars made it a competition at the highest level.

In the two preparation races near Greenville the team started off perfectly with 2 podium placings and a victory!
In the Tour de Georgia the riders did have a great start too, with Sergey Kudentsov sprinting to a 5th place in the first stage. Rhys Pollock taking the most aggressive leader jersey in stage 2 and young Malaysian Loh Sea Keong taking an intermediate sprint, resulting in 10th,11th and 12th in GC after two stages! Climber Jai Crawford rode a strong stage finishing 14th on the famous Brasstown Balt climb, where also young Chinese Liu Yi Lin had a strong performance with a promise for the future. Rhys Pollock took care of a good finish of this tour by driving the 10 men break all stage in the final stage. Rhys just missed the overall title of most aggressive rider of the Tour; although many felt he should have won it.

The cooperation with GE also involved several meetings of the team with GE employees who were very excited about their “own team”. The team cooperated in a project for children for which the team built up bicycles and visited to a children’s hospital for cancer patients.
We hope we can continue the cooperation with GE in other projects in the future.
