The riders Brad Hall, Loh Sea Keong, Khalid Bounida, Haidar Anuawar and Jonathan Lovelock were yesterday competing in the criterium of Huzhu.
It is not an official part of the Tour of Qinhai Lake and does not count for the General Classification.

Unfortunately it was not a succesful day for the Marco Polo riders. The 140 riders were facing heavy weatherconditions, with especially
a lot of rain and mud. After 12 laps of 6 km the riders were almost unrecognizable.

Haidar already had to leave the race in the second lap, since he was facing problems with his shoulder. Not much later Loh also had to give up, he had a terrible
night with a lot of stomach pain. The third Marco Polo rider who had to give up was Brad Hall, he punctured and the new wheel that was given to him broke the scewer
lever.

Khalid and Jonathan were able to reach the finish, being part of the peleton. Khalid finished on the 76th place and Jonathan on the 96th.

Today the real race starts with a 171km stage from Xining to Tongren that climbs to almost 3100m.
