Twenty-one year old Ethiopian cyclist Alem Abebe from Marco Polo Cycling - Donckers Koffie became 2nd in the Specialized Hill Crit in 's Heerenberg, Netherlands. He was part of a 18 rider front group with 3 team mates. In the last laps it was British Chris Bartlett who rode strong, sacrificed his own chances and lead out Alem into the final sprint. Alem started his sprint just a little bit too early and only on the line he was beaten by strong and experienced Dutch Rikke Dijkxhoorn. Marco Polo Cycling Donckers Koffie rode very aggressive from the start. With strong attacks by Chris Macic and Daniel Abraham. Also Estifanos Gebresilassie was in some of the break aways. Matt Green en Chris Macic were also in the main breakaway initially, but missed a split. Bartlett and Alem then played it well in the finale, by escaping with two others - then almost winning the race.
