The Tour de Langkawi in Malaysia was a great start of the cooperation with our fantastic new sponsor Herbalife!
The goal of the Herbalife Marco Polo Cycling Team was to build experience, get used to each other and get more used to the routines of a pro-team in a major race in Asia with our young group of riders. This experience can only be gained while fighting for victories and good results in stages.
Every stage the team was welcomed by a fantastic crowd of Herbalife Distributors – there were great Meet&Greet sessions – which the team really enjoyed!
Also before the race the team visited a couple of get-togethers for Herbalife Distributors and really got to appreciate the company atmosphere and the great Herbalife products.
All riders managed to finish the race, so did have the chance to learn for 7 stages in a row. In general, all the tasks given to them, were executed well. The Herbalife Marco Polo Cycling Team was one of the few teams that finished the Tour with all riders still in competition, a great performance of our young team!
In the last stage, 4 of our riders waited for Haidar who had a mechanical problem. They had a great team effort to bring him back. However getting him back to the field turned out to be impossible in the superfast stage in Kuala Lumpur. A chance was taken to bring Haidar back for a stage result, however the team classification was lost this way.
Herbalife Ltd.
