New Zealander Chris Macic from Marco Polo Cycling Donckers Koffie became 2nd in the Großer Straßenpreis des Donnersbergkreises in Bolanden Germany. After 133 K on a challenging course with a climb and strong winds, Chris could attack the rest of the 5 rider frontgroup on the climb, but could not reach winner Erik Hoffmann and finished solo in 2nd position.  macicpodium.jpg

The race was opened by Ethiopians Alem Grmay Abebe and Estifanos Gebresilassie at the first king of mountains where they got 2nd and 3rd. After that the team missed some break-aways and had to chase. read more...:

With the strong winds it was hard to close the gap and the Ethiopians fell back behind the main group. Edward Green from South Africa also had a strong appearance but found himself back in the 2nd main group later on. Meanwhile Chris Macic made his move and attacked to the frontgroup of 5. In the final lap it was Erik Hoffmann who could get away with Chris chasing him on the last straight to the finish.

A strong race and nice result for Chris, we hope his victory will come soon.
